February 10

Let’s be honest for a second. Starting your business ain’t no charity – when you put your time and money into creating content, you want to make sure it pays off.

That payoff could be more email sign ups…

More customers…

Or even just more people finding out about your brand.

At the end of the day, you are looking for a way to improve your conversions. And I’ve got the perfect list of tools to browse and find the perfect one for your needs!

Split Testing Tools

Should your button be blue or red? Should you use a sales video or a long text-only sales page?

You can flip a coin and guess, or you could A/B split test. I prefer the latter. Here are my favorite tools to make it super simple and effective to do.

Thrive Optimize

Thrive Optimize Conversions

Thrive Optimize is the fastest and easiest way to launch split tests on your WordPress pages.

With just a few clicks, you can launch a split test that can optimize for page view, email sign ups, or maximum revenue (using SendOwl’s integration).

Even better, Optimize shows you the performance of your test directly in the WordPress dashboard, with beautiful graphs and automatic winner settings.

Best yet – Optimize is only $67 including lifetime updates, so if you are a Thrive Architect user, this is an easy winner.

Google Optimize

We all have Google Analytics installed on our blogs, but sometimes it’s just not clear what to do with the data.

Google Optimize makes that incredible data actionable, by allowing you to run multiple split tests on your site, for free.

Sound too good to be true? Well, it can be…

Running test (experiments) in Google Optimize is more complicated than most of the other tools on this list. It requires a few code snippets, some canonical link management, and in general there are just more clicks involved to get one set up.

But for the brave of heart, Google Optimize can be the all-purpose swiss army knife to get you testing anything you can imagine.

Thrive Leads

Thrive is all about conversion optimization with their WordPress tools – you’ll see their name on this list quite a lot. Thrive leads is quite possibly the best lead generation tool for WordPress.

This tool is a one-stop shop for lead generation on your blog, from pop ups, hello bars, and everything in between – you can build the lead gen form you need for the job.

But more than that, Thrive leads also allows you to split test in several ways. You can test a pop up vs a slider, or multiple versions of the same form type.

I’ve personally tested Thrive Leads vs Elementor Pop ups, and can say that nothing comes close to the conversion optimization potential of Thrive Leads.

Thrive Headline Optimizer

How many hours does it take to write a high-quality blog post? Without a compelling headline, those hours are wasted because no one will read your article.

Thrive Headline Optimizer fixes this problem elegantly by making it incredibly easy to split test your blog post headlines until you find the perfect one to that maximizes clicks and reads.

It’s the only tool I know of its kind, so if you are serious about writing effective blog posts, you need to check it out.

Cartflows is bringing sales funnels to WordPress, and this brings several benefits to your business:

  • Make more money from every sale through bump offers, one click upsells, and downsells

  • Recover lost customers through cart abandonment

The A/B split testing feature is still in development, but there are already several useful tools to improve your conversions.

Drip Automations (New Split Testing Feature)

Drip has just released an extremely powerful feature to help you improve your conversions within your email marketing campaigns.

While many platforms allow you to split test a single email, Drip is the only tool that allows you to create entirely separate customer journeys and split test their effectiveness.

Kartra

Technically Kartra is not a WordPress tool, but there are easy ways to make them work together.

Kartra has a very powerful split testing engine built into their page builder that works very much like Thrive Optimize. You can duplicate a page to make small tweaks, or you can completely redesign the content to determine the best for your job.

Split Hero

This is a newer tool that looks promising for WordPress.

It promises to provide easy A/B testing for WordPress, including a simple set up and data that matters.

While it doesn’t do anything more than Google Optimize, the pure simplicity of Split Hero may make it worth the $27 per month fee.

Speed Optimization Tools

Designing a perfect page is only useful if the visitor waits around long enough to see the page.

People are increasingly impatient, and if pages take more than a couple of seconds to load – your visitors will bounce and move on.

The tools in this section will make sure that never happens!

WP Super Cache (Free)

Caching plugins are your biggest bang for your buck when it comes to speed improvements on your website.

WP Super Cache is one of the most popular caching plugins in the WordPress repository, and with good reason.

It is simple to understand and implement, and can drastically reduce the load time of your site (especially on budget hosting providers).

Check out WP Super Cache.

WP Rocket (Paid)

WP Rocket is premium caching plugin for WordPress, but it is worth every penny. It easily implements the best optimization strategies like GZip compression, individual caching files for logged in users, and database optimization tricks.

Cloudflare

An awesome way to increase speeds on your site is to implement a Content Delivery Network, a service that takes your website’s images and other static content and distributes them around the globe so your visitors get faster load times (and your servers save resources as well).

There are several CDNs available, but Cloudflare is one of the most popular and is sufficient for most users.

It also provides security enhancements to your site which can reduce spam and DDoS attacks.

ShortPixel Image Optimization

It is no surprise that images are some of the largest files that get loaded on your sites. When everyone’s cell phones can shoot huge high-quality photos, it seems that file size just keeps increasing.

But when it comes to conversion optimization, we really want the opposite to happen – keep a good quality photo with minimal size.

Luckily for us there are great tools for this very purpose, and my favorite is ShortPixel.

This guy lives quietly in the background of your website and automatically optimizes every image that you upload. This is great because you don’t need to waste your time optimizing each image before you put it on the server – just shoot and upload.

This saves you time when producing content, bandwidth on your server, and load times for your visitors. Win win win.

Engagement Tools

So you’ve got people to your site – great, now what? How do you maximize the engagement that your users have while they are there?

This section of the post will go through some valuable engagement tools that you can implement to wow your readers and keep them coming back and referring their friends to your site.

Thrive Quiz Builder

Ever catch yourself in the middle of one of those personality quizzes and wonder, “How did I get here?”

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We are all driven by a curiousity to better understand ourselves, and quizzes are an engaging way to do it.

Thrive Quiz Builder was built on this premise, and is a powerful way to create captivating quizzes directly on your site that build your list or increases your social shares.

Vyper.io Viral Contests

Everyone loves free stuff, so it’s no surprise that giveaways and contests are a great way to build some serious engagement on your website.

Vyper.io is the leader in viral giveaways, and they allow you to create some really cool contests that people love to share and participate in.

OneSignal Free Push Notifications

You just published a perfectly crafted new blog post, but how do you get an initial influx of traffic to check it out?

Well you can publish to social media which has hit or miss reach…

You could email your list – but email open rates are declining every day…

This is where OneSignal comes in – it’s a free service that allows you to provide desktop notifications to previous visitors of your site.

Setup couldn’t be easier, and with their free WordPress plugin, you can automatically push updates to your latest blog posts every time you hit Publish!

Check it out, I think you’ll love OneSignal.

Activechat.ai Facebook Messenger Platform

Conversations are extremely powerful. They are dynamic and lead to a more rich understanding of your audience. Facebook Messenger bots has been all the rage the past few years, and for good reason: they work.

People are less likely to browse through a site for hours looking for what they want – especially when there is the little blue support chat bubble at the bottom of the page.

Activechat.ai is a newer player into the chatbot space, but it has some crazy-powerful features like E-Commerce integration, Machine Learning using Google’s Dialogue flow (so your bot gets smarter over time… scary), and a powerful and intuitive conversation builder.

It also makes an awesome agency business model. Check out Activechat.ai for more details.

UseProof Social Proof Notifications (Premium)

Monkey see, monkey do. We all like to think we are free-thinkers, but doesn’t it help when we know that others have already done the thinking for us?

Tools like UseProof understand this, and have created a slick way to automatically add social proof to your website.

Simply install a snippet of code to your website, and you will automatically get a verified badge on your important conversion screens reinforcing your visitors to trust you.

You can capture events like email sign ups, purchases, demos scheduled, etc, and it simply works.

There is currently an AppSumo deal for Influence, which offers similar functionality as UseProof but for a fraction of the cost – check it out!

Conclusion

We’ve just covered a ton of tools that you can easily implement to improve your conversions on your website. Whether you are looking for A/B testing, speed improvements, or better engagement, I’ve got you covered.
