From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

Consistently pinning high quality pins and creating beautiful pinnable images for my own content have been the most helpful things for me.

My posts with catchy titles (and quality content!) like "How I Organized My Whole Life" and "My Secret to Getting Things Done and Accomplishing Goals" also send a lot of Pinterest traffic my way.

Clear, organized boards with pretty cover photos make a Pinterest account more enticing to follow.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

I use both Photoshop and PicMonkey to create pinnable images.

I typically do either a regular vertical image (about 680 px x 1020 px) with a title overlay or an extra long vertical image (around 500 px x 1500 px) that also includes the title, and both have been successful for me.

For the titles, I try to keep the fonts and styles similar from post to post so that my pins become more recognizable to people on Pinterest.

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

I think it starts with creating high quality content that is really helpful for people.

If you can meet a need in someone's life, they're not only going to want to pop over from Pinterest, but hopefully they'll stick around and become a regular reader so you'll get return traffic again and again.

I get some traffic to the "pretty" posts like room reveals or home tours, but I get way more visits to the "how-to" posts or posts about getting organized and managing your time because those are things people want to get better at and feel like they can implement more easily in their own lives.

Pinterest is a mostly womenÂ’s platform, thatÂ’s a fact, but does that mean Pinterest is not suitable for men? Is Pinterest a lucrative traffic generator only for topics like food/cooking, fashion, DIY and similar, or can it be useful for more serious, business related topics too?

I think that the majority of Pinterest users are women, but I don't think that means that they're not interested in topics like business.

I write about online business and productivity on my blog and see plenty of Pinterest traffic to those posts.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

I currently use both BoardBooster and Tailwind to schedule pins. I don't use any type of auto-follow tool.

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

Recently Pinterest seems to be placing more emphasis on the quality of the pins rather than the number of followers you have.

I've found that older pins that are already "proven" to do well on Pinterest are shown more often in the feed, so newer pins might take a little longer than they used to to really gain traction and send traffic to your site.

From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

I would say it is a combination of things. I have had a lot of success when implementing more searchable keywords in my board names and descriptions.

However, the game changer for me was joining successful large group boards to reach new audiences.

I also schedule my pins using Tailwind and that has helped significantly.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

I use Canva.com mostly. I use Photoshop to resize my images to compress them a little more. But Canva is so awesome and easy to use. I first studied what types of Pinterest graphics were getting repined.

Study the title, and background image and create an aesthetically pleasing and legible.

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

GROUP BOARDS + getting a post to go viral.

My post about “How to Make Your Home Look More Expensive on a Dime” was written in February, went viral and is still my #1 post that is visited in my site and it is October now.

To find group boards within your niche, I recommend going to www.pingroupie.com.

This platform is for everyone!! There are more and more case studies that are proving there are so many more men using Pinterest to bring more relative traffic to their sites. I thinks itÂ’s awesome.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

Tailwind. It is a godsend! You can pay $15 monthly (to schedule up to 400 pins a month) or you can pay $119 for the year to schedule an unlimited amount of pins. It is worth every penny.

I also schedule the same pins to the same boards over the course of a week. It shuffle up my cue so that they donÂ’t pin back to back. Spreading it out is the best.

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

Really look at the quality of your images. Good lighting, focus, and content will be successful on Pinterest no matter what.

From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

It is definitely a combination of all those activities and more!

ThereÂ’s a lot you need to do to really excel at Pinterest marketing.

Pinterest is partly science, art, and business acumen.

The most important thing is to identify who your target audience is first.

Surprisingly too many businesses are not crystal clear about this information. Only after you have identified your target audience do you then create and curate content that speaks to the needs of that audience.

It means pinning with a caring heart.

And that means pinning content that is helpful to them as opposed to trying to sell them something.

If you are not crystal clean on who your target audience is including their wants, needs and problems then you risk all your other Pinterest activities.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

White Glove Social Media Marketing is a full Pinterest marketing agency so we are blessed to have really talented graphic artists.

However I also personally create some of our images specifically for Pinterest using tools like Canva or PicMonkey because I want to prove to small business owners that you can create your own images.

Canva has several tutorials and free templates to help those who donÂ’t have a knack for creating their own images.

All your images should be a sized by 735 pixel wide by 1102 pixels long. DonÂ’t make images smaller than this or youÂ’ll get overlooked on a PinnerÂ’s home feed.

The images that do well for me and others are those with text overlay especially those with catchy titles.

Pins that contain “how to’s”, checklists and infographics also work extremely well for me. The trick with checklists and infographics is not to give all the information away on the image so you get more click throughs.

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

Pinterest has helped my business rank on the first page of Google under my most important keywords.

How did I do that?

Pinterest boards are indexed by Google - that does not happen on any other social networks.

So I make sure my board titles contain my most important keywords.

For example if you Google “Pinterest expert” or “Pinterest consultant” you will see us rank on the first page of Google.

I am the only Pinterest expert worldwide that has been able to do this. Because I know the secret formula to ranking high on Google. Unfortunately that is not something I share. It is a trade secret of White Glove Social Media and we apply it to those businesses we manage Pinterest account for.

What I can tell you is that there are several very important places to put your keyword inside your Pinterest account. Board titles and pin descriptions are just two of several.

Females make up the majority of Pinners in the U.S. but this discovery tool is balanced internationally, and one-third of all sign-ups now come from men.

Two-thirds of the content saved to Pinterest comes from businesses so itÂ’s safe to say that itÂ’s not just for the foodies, crafties and fashionistas.

All sorts of businesses from banking to home improvement also do very well on Pinterest.

96% of Pinners have used Pinterest for research.

So if youÂ’re a B2B or a publisher you need to be on Pinterest. Pinners are pinning over 14 million articles a day. Pinterest is like a huge digital filing cabinet.

Studies show that Millennials Moms tend to use Pinterest as a planning tool during key life moments, big and small.

In fact, active Pinners are 47% likely to be going through major events in the next six months. Bank of America wanted to reach the largest group on Pinterest – the Millennials. Since one-third of all millennials are already using Pinterest to plan their futures, the Bank of America knew Pinterest was the right platform to reach their audience. Their pins focuses on helping Millennials provide detailed financial education from getting their first paycheck to planning their weddings and saving for retirement.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

For scheduling pins I use both Traffic Wonker and Viraltag. I believe in following Pinners organically and do not use tools that automatically follow others.

I also believe you need to be authentic on Pinterest and avoid buying followers to look good.

In addition, I use Pin4Ever to fix broken or dead links because Pinterest is focused on the quality of their userÂ’s experience and if you are not managing dead links or expired pages there can be consequences.

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

Pinterest is not a social media network but more of a massive search engine. Surprise surprise!

Pinners are not on Pinterest to share or have conversations with their friends like they do on Facebook or share breaking news like they do on Twitter.

Pinterest users behave differently on this platform which means how you create and curate content on Pinterest will be different than what you post on Facebook, what you tweet, etc.

Plus soooooo many still donÂ’t really know how to correctly apply SEO techniques on Pinterest. And it is a shame because it is really easy once you learn how and the impact it can have on your traffic can be enormous.

If this is overwhelming for you and you feel like you are going around and around with Pinterest and not getting anywhere contact me, a Pinterest account management expert about my Pinterest account management services or to learn more about how you can be more effective on Pinterest check out my Pinterest Marketing for Business (course Chapter one is FREE).

From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

Success on Pinterest is a combination of attention-grabbing vertical images linked to awesome content that educates and entertains, pinnable website, cross-promotion, pin, board and account optimization and consistent pinning.

Board names and descriptions and pin descriptions are very important and part of the optimization process because keyword rich names and descriptions appear in search results in the Guided Search.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

I create most of my images in Canva using the Pinterest template.

I include text on all my images and write good descriptions with keywords pinners would use so they get found. And it works, most of my content gets a lot of repins and clicks long after I share it on one of my boards or group boards.

Images with reddish-orange colors work better on Pinterest than blue ones.

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

Businesses need pinnable websites that are mobile-friendly since 80% of Pinterest traffic comes from mobile devices. They can start by checking what’s being pinned from their site www.pinterest.com/source/yourwebsite.com (example for IncomeMesh) and see what pinners like best and create more of that.

  • A business account,
  • Verified site and
  • Use of rich pins related to what their business is about (there are 6 types of rich pins at the moment: Product, Article, Recipe, Movie, Place and App) are a must.
Pinning evergreen content helps with increase in traffic from Pinterest

Also, collaboration in group boards. Pinners and businesses can find a group board related to what they pin using a tool called Pingroupie or create their own group board and invite loyal followers/customers or another business.

Pinterest is for everyone. It’s a misconception that Pinterest is just for women. Men are the fastest-growing demographic.

Pinterest tweaked the Guided Search earlier this year so girly stuff don’t appear when they search for shoes, clothes, etc. Now when a male pinner searches for shoes or clothes he gets to see products for men.

And if one takes into account that women buy gifts for their boyfriends, husbands, fathers, brothers I don’t see any reason why Pinterest would not be suitable for a business with a male target.

Pinterest works for all types of businesses. That includes product and services, visual and non-visual businesses.

The recipe for success on Pinterest is education+entertainment and not being too salesy.

Instead of selling businesses should inspire pinners, pin content that solves problems and shows how their products fit into pinners’ lives.

There are many financial businesses, hospitals, non-profits, technology brands, etc. that are very successful on Pinterest.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

I use Pinterest analytics, Google Analytics, Pin4Ever, PinGroupie and Tailwind App.

Canva, PicMonkey and other tools for creating images.

I’m not a fan of automation tools so I do not recommend using those at all.

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

Convert to a business account right away if you use a personal account!

Create a strategy. Think about your ideal audience, it’s about them, not about you.

Pinterest success starts on the website. Having a blog with pinnable images, evergreen and seasonal content is a must. Avoid images with white background, use images of products in use. Also dig into the analytics, they will give you a ton of information about what you are doing right, what needs to be improved, who is pinning your content and where.

Pinterest is not for businesses that expect results over night or those who think that it’s same as Twitter and Facebook.

Results from Pinterest take time: look at it as a challenge pin at least 4-6 months consistently. You have to invest the time to see results. It’s not a waste of time at all.

Or the other option is hiring someone to do it for you so you avoid making the most common mistakes and not lose time and sales.

Morgan Timm College Lifestyle Blogger

"Morgan is actually the reason why I decided to wrote this Pinterest experts roundup. Her blog is the first one I saw that has that much traffic coming from Pinterest. That gave me the idea to find more similar bloggers who know how to use the power of Pinterest." - Drazen

From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

For me the most important things are being active and pinning to the right boards.

I pin my own content every day to multiple boards, as well as content from other bloggers.

I have a lot of success with group boards, the two best for me are “The Blogger Network” and my “College” board. Of course high quality is always important and something I’m constantly striving towards, too. If a pin doesn’t perform well I will go back after a few days and delete it or repin it to a different board.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

Lately I have been working with local photographers who take pictures for me, and then I turn them into a graphic using Canva.

Images with simple text overlays (nothing too fancy!) perform the best for me, as do well photographed fashion posts.

An important thing to keep in mind is that you want your images to be long! I usually size mine to be 800×1200 so that they take up a lot of room on the Pinterest feed without being too long. This makes sure it gets seen!

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

I wish that there were a one size fits all Pinterest formula! Unfortunately it is going to be a bit different for everyone, you just have to figure out what works for you.

The basic formula is going to be pinning quality pins every day to multiple boards, but beyond that you have to figure out what boards to pin to and at what times.

The main reason that I get so much traffic from Pinterest is my niche. I was among the first bloggers writing about college and studying tips.

Pinterest’s demographic is largely young women and so my content is very relevant to them!

You are right, Pinterest is mainly occupied by women, but that has been changing as of recent!

The ratio of men using the platform has been growing each quarter!

I think at this point Pinterest can be even more beneficial for men if they are the first to add content to an otherwise untapped market on Pinterest.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

At this point I actually don’t use any tools – I tried Board Booster for their free trial but I didn’t see a large enough benefit from it to pay for their service!

I myself spend about 20 minutes a day on Pinterest and that has been sufficient for growing my account and driving traffic.

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

I just want to drive home how important being active on Pinterest is – if you pin your content the day it’s posted and then never again eventually that pin is going to lose steam.

I have a secret board with all of my blog posts pinned to it, and each day I choose four or five old posts to repin to relevant boards.

From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

I think a combination of all of those things are all very important.

One thing to add is that while pinning your own content is important, you should also pin a good amount of pins from other bloggers as well. It helps make you look more natural, plus you get to spread the social media love around.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

I usually either use my own photos or photos from Pixabay. Then, I alter them in PicMonkey. It’s really that easy!

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

Creating pinnable images is key. If you want to drive people back to your website then you have to catch them on Pinterest.

I blog mainly about business and financial topics and I do just fine. So, yes, you can have more serious topics.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

The only tool I use is Tailwind. That way I can schedule pins ahead of time and not have to worry about them since I’m in the RV (and I’m paying for my internet per gig – that adds up quickly!).

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

Nothing to add, I believe I covered everything I could think of.

From your experience, whatÂ’s the most important piece of Pinterest marketing? Naming the boards properly, pinning high quality pins, optimizing your images for Pinterest, getting as many followers as you can, regularly pinning, a combination of these things or something else?

I believe the most important thing is to pin amazing content.

If it is YOUR pin that is always catching other pinner’s attention and their re-pin, everything else falls into place.

It doesn’t matter what a board is called if no one is following it.

Since Pinterest is a visual platform where images are very important, can you tell us how do you create your images and what types of images perform the best for you?

The psychology behind a re-pin is something someone aspires to or wants to save.

Using images that tell that type of story is the most successful strategy.

You’re obviously getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest, can you tell us what’s your secret? What do Pinterest users have to do to start getting huge amounts of traffic to their websites? Is there a “Pinterest success formula”?

We have a lot of content that is perfect for the average Pinterest user. We create content for moms.  Every single one of our articles have at least one Pinterest-worthy image – many of our articles contain multiple Pinterest-worthy images.

I pin our stuff consistently and constantly.  We make it easy for our readers to pin as well which keeps the content continuously cycling in Pinterest.

Because Pinterest doesn’t act alone – search and social proof interact with it, I can’t imagine why anyone would leave Pinterest out of their marketing plan.

What tools do you use for Pinterest marketing? That includes tools for scheduling pins, automation tools (like auto-following other Pinterest users) or any other tool you use and would recommend to others?

Auto-following seems like a really bad idea to me.  You will get more followers just by pinning and they will be people who are attracted to what you like and are sharing.

I use Board Booster for scheduling pins and also pin daily without a scheduler.

For the end of this short questionnaire, share whatever you think is most important for anyone interested in Pinterest marketing that was not covered in the questions above.

My biggest suggestion is to pin more often than you are now.

Conclusion

I don’t know about you but I’m going to start using Pinterest every day as of right now.

I also hope you learned something today and I hope this post inspired you to add Pinterest to you marketing strategy.
