Kartra Review 2019 – The Best All-In-One Platform?

Could the days of finding API keys and remembering dozens of logins to run your online business be over?

Several “all in one” solutions have come and gone in the past, but the latest kid on the block, Kartra, might have a trick or two up its sleeve.

In this review post, we are going to dissect this newcomer feature by feature. And by the end, you will know for sure if Kartra is King.

Let's begin.

But first, what is Kartra?

Kartra is a collection of essential business tools that you need to run any online business, all nicely integrated into a single platform.

It is the brain child of Mike Filsaime and Andy Jenkins, two well-known marketers who have successfully launched WebinarJam as one of the premier online webinar tools out today.

So you know right off the bat this this tool is going to be a little different than some from the past. But it gets even more interesting.

Pulling in the big guns

While Mike and Andy surely could have launched the product themselves, they got help.

And oh boy, the help is high-quality.

Frank Kern, a direct response advertising legend, decided to get in on the action.

He provides a number of training modules and seminars (which would cost thousands of dollars to attend in person) for FREE with the Kartra Academy – the built-in training portal for Kartra users.

That would normally be enough, but then they sweetened the pot with “Done-for-you” campaigns. I'll be going deep into this feature later in the review.

Alright, with that out of the way, let's dive into the features!

Kartra's Page Builder

Since Kartra is in direct competition with Clickfunnels and Leadpages (but it does so much more!) it makes sense to start with the page building function.

Kartra gives you a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) front end editor. From day 1 there were over a hundred pre-built page templates available to import with a single click.

The overall experience of building pages is intuitive and speedy.

absolutely wipes the floor with

everything else hi I'm Jack and in this

video we're gonna find out about the new

contender in the online marketing space

give an overview a first impression from

what I've seen in my first 48 hours the

platform and whether you should be

paying attention to it in the coming

days and weeks

so let's go ahead and dive into it so

the platform we're gonna talk about

tonight is cart ruts kind of hard to say

not really sure what it means from the

word itself but into the video tonight

you're going to go from not having any

knowledge of this new platform to having

probably a little bit of salivation in a

bit of a desire to try it out right now

that's exactly how I felt the first time

that I laid my eyes on it and when I

heard about it online through a forum I

immediately signed up for what you'll

find out is a $1 two-week trial and I'm

midway through that and honestly guys in

my multiple years of online marketing

I've never found a system to be quite as

intuitive and quite as buttoned up as

this platform here so let's not get

ahead of ourselves here let's go ahead

and go into a full review of this

platform and just give you a very quick

brief overview of what it is so I'll

read off the homepage from karcher calm

this is the most complete ecommerce

platform for building your online

business put an end to the confusion

request an invite today coming April 4th

which is 13 days and 17 hours from this

recording so what does that exactly mean

so let's take some of their competitors

and you'll see why I use air quotes in

that phrase right now let's take some of

their competitors and just kind of give

you an idea of how this one platform is

starting to make a huge dent in the

entire online marketing space so one of

the main competitors that you

immediately let yourself think about

when you're kind of seeing online

business platform is click funnels right

click funnels is huge they are spending

a ton of money in marketing and

advertising for their platform and

they're growing incredibly rapidly one

of the big reasons why they're growing

so aggressively is because they have

pretty much the best affiliate program

that's out there if you guys are not

familiar with an affiliate program

basically they give 40%

the monthly revenue to people who refer

people underneath them so it's a highly

attractive offer for people to promote

it the challenge with aggressive

affiliate programs like that is that if

the software is a little bit buggy or if

some of the features don't quite stack

up to the competition there's a huge

conflict of interest for the marketer to

tell their readers and their viewers the

truth and so clickfunnels I'm not gonna

pass judgment I've used it before I

didn't use it for a long period of time

because I found some limitations in it

and about what is click phones it's a

landing page builder and you can do some

automations off of it for about a

hundred dollars a month to three hundred

dollars a month depending on the package

you get what's another competitor that

might come to your mind and this would

be thrive themes and they are arguably

the best WordPress theme site that's out

there today in my opinion they are up

there and amongst the best and the

benefit of them is they have a ton of

plugins that you can integrate into your

WordPress blog to turn it into kind of a


competitor you're able to build sales

funnels you're able to do some a be

split testing there's a lot of

functionality you can open up by using

thrive themes to kind of get you closer

to that click funnels type of

functionality and thirdly there is

elegant themes which has Divi as one of

the most popular themes there and that

is also a plug-in and theme for

WordPress to enable you to do visual

page building as well as kind of some

sales funnels but really not so much is

really nice pretty blog that you can

build so why do I show you these three

different competitors – Carter it's

because I have personal experience with

each and every one of them enough that I

can give you an honest and unbiased

opinion about the pros and the cons of

what Karcher is and we'll be getting

into that over the course of the next

several days I'll be putting out some

videos kind of taking feature by feature

and comparing and contrasting Carter to

their competitors in that particular

space but before we get to that point I

want to go ahead and dive into the

platform with you here and walk through

exactly what Karcher is able to offer

and this is again this is before day one

right so that we're like de- 13

so whenever you're comparing a

platformer you have to think about the

feature set as compared to the maturity

of the platform this sucker is gonna

grow so let's go ahead and dive into my

personal platform here and again this is

a very stripped-down interface because

I'm just now beginning with it this is a

first look I've spent a good two days of

really digging into the platform

learning it and like I said I have about

three years of online marketing

experience so with a couple of days I'm

able to get a good kind of sniff test

and a good feel for a platform so when

you open up Cara you're going to see a

very nice clean interface if you're

familiar with WordPress you'll kind of

breathe a sigh of relief when you open

up this interface not knocking WordPress

WordPress is amazing platform but it's a

blogging platform

I have heard Carter say you know very

publicly they're not intended on being a

blogging platform they're intending on

being pretty much everything else from

building your email list and serving

that email us through automated email

marketing as well as creating beautiful

sales pages opt-in pages the entire

sales funnel process working your

webinars this is the same company that

built GoToWebinar and ever webinar and

so you can imagine the integration

between those guys is gonna be fantastic

it's there for building membership sites

and delivering digital content among

many other things we can't even go

through the entire feature set in this

one video it's also a video hosting

platform so instead of getting Wistia or

Vimeo or YouTube to host your videos and

then embedding them on your web page

you're able to actually upload your

videos directly to cartridge itself and

as we get into that feature set deeper

you're going to see how that is an

absolutely amazing benefit because it

opens up some things some doors that I

did not think we're possible

when it comes to video embedding on your

on your website so let's go ahead and

kind of take this from a high level

overview so the way this works is in

every tab here you have a left facing

tab and you have a kind of top facing

tab and so let's go ahead and look at

the products so underneath products you

have a couple of different things here

so you can create your products and

create tracking codes or coupons all

kind of the normal

ecommerce things if you're selling

digital products they are also going to

be supporting physical products with

shipping and things of that nature we

won't go through and create a product

here I want to show you the page builder

specifically on this day one but you can

see there that some of the functionality

additionally you have affiliates where

you can manage and track all of your

affiliates directly from here I'll tell

you right now I have significant

experience managing affiliates using

teachable to deliver online courses and

I have to tell you the integration with

the products and the affiliates and the

settings that you can have within


already have made me kind of cry on the

inside with the amount of management I

have to do on a manual basis with other

platforms and you have analytics and one

thing you'll notice throughout this

entire overview is that you're gonna see

a lot of these analytics buttons at the

top right here and the reason for that

is because one of the unifying messages

and visions for this product is to be

able to bring all the individual pieces

of your marketing stack into a single

unified platform which allows you to get

analytics across the functionality of

this program so for example you'll be

able to string together analytics

between your products and your emails

and your landing page visits and

behaviors on there with your videos

there's an incredible amount of

integration that's done here and that's

the benefit of having the business and a

box type of thing there's always kind of

a fear or a skepticism when it comes to

a business in a box where it gives you

all the functionality you need because

sometimes what you can find with other

solutions is that certain features just

don't work quite well it might not be

the focus of the business and when

you're trying to do everything like

you're seeing on this left-hand side

here it's easy to drop some balls and

kind of leave the experience a little

lacking fortunately this company has

significant backing it's not some

startup that has no capital to run and

invest in their business in fact this

business has been in development over

the last five years as what I was able

to read on their blog and they have the

backing of some of the greatest internet

marketers that we know of

you know namely Frank

who makes his presence known throughout

the platform as we'll see as we go here

so all I can say is you have to do your

due diligence and look at your options

but my personal situation is that I am

trying to build an online business to

supplement what I'm doing from a

nine-to-five perspective ultimately

leading to being a full time online

entrepreneur but efficiency and

integration is key for me and I'm able

to look past other things if they show

up in order to have that seamless user

experience so as we go through this

platform I'll let you be the judge but

I'm gonna give you the full review as we

build a page together so what I'd like

to do on this video is let's build a

list building funnel together shall we

we're gonna go ahead and say we will

have a free pdf that we want to create I

want to go through and create the form

create the Thank You page create the

landing page create the confirmation

page and show you that whole process the

whole shebang and as you'll find out not

switching over to your email marketing

list not doing everything else is just a

darn delight so what should we do first

let's go ahead and create our pages

first so I'll switch over to the my

pages area and what you'll find let me

move my guy out of the way here is that

the interface is very unified so if I

switch to forms you'll notice this green

button shows me that you to add

something there so you've got a very

integrated kind of unified experience

throughout the platform which is just a

breath of fresh air and let's go ahead

and create a new page so as you create a

page you have some options and this

should look familiar to those of you who

are used to a leadpages or other landing

page software so let's go ahead and

decide what page we want let's go ahead

and do a squeeze page so here you have

some very beautiful options oh another

point I want to talk about here for a

second is think about also your

competition whenever you're marketing

your unique selling proposition is a

very important asset your you being able

to have some that looks different and

get it out there faster than your

competitor is huge especially in 2018

and beyond so if we think about you know

the clickfunnels and the other platforms

that are out there the leadpages and


those templates are looking a little bit

stale meaning you'll see a webpage and

immediately you'll say that that was

built with clickfunnels you know and

there's nothing necessarily wrong with

that but it requires you to go into

those templates and really make them

fully customized to the point where it

almost makes more sense to start from

scratch and build something actually

looks unique here's the kicker with a

platform that's just now coming out in

two weeks that is a non-issue because

all of these templates they haven't seen

the internet before these are all brand

new things and so the market the market

is not saturated yet with these

templates it's a you know you might

think that's a small factor but it is a

factor nonetheless so let's go ahead and

browse through here and let's let's find

a nice little template you'll I'll just

kind of give you an idea what's going on

here all right I like this it's simple

it allows us to kind of get the point

across so I'll select it and I will go

up here and say launch builder and now

you get to name your page so we'll say

YouTube opt-in and under category

another thing is very nice here is that

if you don't have a category for that

yet you can go and create one straight

from that interface let's call this a

YouTube category we'll add it in it done

boom right back to where we started easy

peasy go down category and there it is

even something as small as that would

take a bit more time in any other

platform that I know it would require

having multiple windows open

side-by-side to kind of make that happen

as quickly as I did just there so then

within a couple seconds my Internet's

being a little bit finicky tonight it'll

open up your page builder all right

there goes and it'll open up your opt-in

page here and which kind of get a label

and see what's going on here this is a

beautifully made page so as you kind of

scroll around you'll notice some very

big similarities with other builders

everything is what you see is what you

get you can quickly go in and edit the

text I'm not gonna actually do sales

copy on this page but I'll show you

the functionality here so as you're

scrolling through you can very quickly

jump between mobile and desktop as well

as phone

I guess it's phone tablet and desktop so

you can see the different styles here

nice to have that out of click and you

notice it doesn't need a render or take

time to do that you also have two

different modes of editing one is

component mode which is where as you

hover over a section you're not going to

you're gonna see the individual

components and be able to edit the

individual components here but if you

switch over to this column mode now as

you hover over you'll see you're

actually looking at the containers where

those components are being held

so it just kind of versus trying to kind

of get your mouse just perfectly on that

one section that you're trying to edit

this gives you a lot of grace and says

what do you you know what are you doing

right now are you kind of looking at the

high level layout where if I did this

and I want to edit this entire purple

outline container you edit that guy

you're not trying to fight with the

platform and try to get just that

headline if that's what you're looking


and so here you can see a style the

padding things that are quite familiar

if you're used to two builders one thing

that I like is this is gonna look

terrible just I can tell but before I

start but within the image library you

don't need to bounce out two pixels if

you're gonna find some stock images or

two pics of a and do your search and

then pull it back in look at look how

amazing this is

so it says mountains sure let's look for

mountains the type in mountains here

under images and oh my goodness how

beautiful are these mountains so I like

this guy so we'll add that in and with

one click on the same tab guys this is

huge if you're short on time which we

all are

it's huge be able to do this and say

select confirm apply and you have a

background within that purple section

that we just for editing looks pretty

terrible but that was what we wanted to

do right so let's go back to our

component view what's nice about these

templates is it'll kind of give you a

checkbox down here I guess you could

think of where it'll show you the

sets that still require some attention

before the page is fully functional in

the way that it was designed so you'll

see here we have two pending opt-in

forms one up here and as we scroll down

one down here so the next step we would

want to do is we'd want to go ahead and

create an opt-in form to integrate into

this site but what we'll do first is

let's go to make our pages and name our

pages and then we'll come back through

create the opt-in and come right back

around and link it all up so I'm let me

just do a couple things here to show you

how easy this is so I'm gonna look on

the right-hand side here the page

settings you can update the SEO

parameters or if you want to add the

meta tag which would show up when you're

searching for that item on google the

keywords you're hoping to be ranking for

under styles this is where you can kind

of change the overall style of the page

whether it's a full width page like this

here or if you're going to fix it to a

certain size and font families font

sizes custom CSS which I would advise

you not to play with as you'll see here

when we go into the sections you don't

need to spend a lot of time to make a

beautiful page here so I'm going to move

myself over here now so we can take a

look at blocks so if you want to add

obviously for a squeeze page you

wouldn't want to top menu but let's add

one just because we can and you just

take it out drag it in and it becomes a

fully functional top menu where you can

you know customize what each one of

these links do and easy-peasy it's it's

made if you want to move it around you

go to your column mode and let's get

this guy out of the way and now you can

see here you can edit you can move it

around so if I hover this guy and

realize well let me do it yeah let me do

a top menu not in the top of the page

it's kind of nice if you customized

something a lot let's say we are gonna

you know actually link each one of these

two pages but we're gonna be able to

drag that top menu exactly how it needs

to be in there let's go ahead and do a

little bit of customization on this and

then I'll show you how easy it is to not

have to worry about setting it up every

single time so I went on my top menu and

I'm going to edit that

doubt button it's actually edit the view

demo buttons or the get started button

because that sounds like a call to

action page so when you click the pencil

on anything it'll pull up your left hand

menu and so from here you can change

style the text that's on there so sign

up apply it if you want an icon there so

I don't need an icon right now you see

it already has the Chevron and a link

finally so this is how easy it is to add

it to another page so you can quickly

say turn it into a pop-up form and it'll

audit you know it very intuitively give

you templates of pop-up forms you can

start with and then you can customize to

your heart's content but I don't want

that I want to link it to another car

trip page and you know how we set up

that category earlier you can quickly go

in and I'll use a different category

here let's split our funnel and it'll

give you all the pages you've already

created from that category so let's go

ahead and say this is a call to action

button so let's go ahead and send it to

an opt-in page open it in a new tab and

apply that's a very quick way to

customize links let's go back to so

let's say we've made some adjustments

there we've customized this a little bit

if this is the brand we want to have we

want to have this black and yellow color

then we can quickly hit the star and

that block has been saved to your

favorites so let's confirm that so we go

back to sections click on our favorite

blocks there you go it's visual you know

it's yours your favorite I believe you

should probably be able to unfavorite it

there you go if you want to take it out

of your favorites there you go so that

is fantastic so let's go ahead and show

you some more of these sections those

top menus hero sections are very

important for landing pages if you're a

personal brand you're trying to sell so

here's the nice here a page a guy with a

satchel who's kind of walking along

let's go and pull this guy in here and

just like that you can see it was kind

of moving it around it was organizing it

just right and now you can put your mug

over here you can change

your copy over there and the colors are

you know you'll be able to edit this

color once and then save it as a

favorite block and bada-bing bada-boom

so it just kind of scrolling through

these hero sections I mean these are a

lot of different sections in from coming

from thrive which is a fantastic

platform it was definitely made for

people that like to get geeky and kind

of move everything around just right it

would be very difficult to quickly

create something like this and pull it

in so that is pretty fantastic

and let's go back to our sections show

you some more things so this is where it

really gets fun section content all the

way at the bottom here so this is where

I mean you could be a kid in a candy

shop here with different sections of a

sales page you know this looks like

we're building out a sales page that was

very well planned so you can kind of

just take that section adjust a few

pieces kind of move on obviously you

want to make it your own and icons let

me show you real quick let's say I don't

like that pencil you don't need to go

and sign up for a icon service you can

actually go straight here to pencil and

you can type in let's type in YouTube so

YouTube play YouTube and YouTube square

let's go with the YouTube play change

the size the icon and let's take the

circle off fly it and there you go

there's your square icon or you could

circle the icon and change the links

that the icon works too alright so you

get the idea let's go ahead and save

this guy and publish this live and we

can say get the link but honestly we

don't need to do that right now because

as you'll find out you don't need that

takes care of it so let's go back and

exit this guy it'll just always give you

a warning just make sure you save your

stuff and one thing I want to show you

what we're here is you can quickly

preview the site and generate it and you

can kind of just scroll through and see

how it would look


the site is kind of all over the place

by me pulling in a bunch of sections but

you can see how even randomly pulling

things in the site still looks good you

can also test out its responsiveness you

can see I was reorganizing the columns

which is nothing new for you know

premium landing page builders but there

are some out there believe it or not

that are not responsive even today so

there you go let's go and exit this guy

and you've kind of seen some of the

features so we won't belabor this point

let's go ahead make this a simple opt-in

page to a thank-you page and then we'll

connect it so I got a Thank You pages

and let's go ahead and use a book

mock-up launch it and again so now that

category is there so we'll say book

thank you

so we have our Thank You page so we will

need to pop out of the Builder real

quick so I can go ahead and create a

freebie and all in the platform and be

able to link it to that download button

so let's go ahead and do that real quick

I'm just going to hold down ctrl + and

hit my home button I think that will

take us there you go take you right back

to the main section and under my

memberships it took me a little while to

find this but it makes sense wise here

under here you have at the top now you

have your membership levels and your

hosted files I'm going to go ahead and

go to hosted files and upload a new file

so let me just come over here on the

side and find something ok so I've got a

little file it's just a picture I will

browse for it

alright so I've selected my file I'll

just rename it because it has a 40

character max file test checkbox and

upload now you've taken your swipe file

you've put it on there and what you can

do then finally is get the URL to it

here's the direct file the direct link

to your file I'll copy that

yeah there and let's head back to our

Thank You page and go right to the

download button and on the link for this

Thank You page we want a custom URL and

just paste that bad boy in there

open in a new tab makes some sense in

this scenario about a Bing badda boom

we're done here and I'm not gonna do any

more customization since you saw that

and I will publish it live and sure

that's that's the link to it but we

won't need that

so let's exit out of here we have our

opt-in page we have our thank-you page

we have our swipe file uploaded we're

making great time here so last step

before we can go back in and fix our

opt-in pages to create the actual opt-in

form that's gonna go into so I'll hit

plus on a forum and let's name this

YouTube swipe file form and so we get to

go to create and what's nice about this

is it kind of walks you through step by

step what you need to do you don't need

to like look at because a lot of email

marketing platforms you have the buttons

are all over the place because they

think you're advanced and you can kind

of go exactly where you need to go but

every opt-in form has the same set of

steps and they put this logically in

that order so here you can edit the

fields you want I only want email

address here so I'll take that guy out

email address is always required which

is intelligent you know change and save

it next and you'll notice every time

you're good on a section it'll give you

that check box so now I'm editing the

confirmation we'll do a single opt-in we

won't need to send the email on this one

because I didn't add that confirmation

page in for the sake of time and then

here's where your you'll just connect

the page and instead of having to find

the URL I'll just go to Carter pages

select the category that category shows

up everywhere which is fantastic and

then select your page book thank you

confirm that would take a lot longer in

other platforms go into our welcome

message and here you can go ahead and

create your email directly in here let's

go ahead and say gateway to card for


so I'm gonna head put in my information

here confirm that and then be there

thanks for checking out my freebie and

then message here another things kind of

nice about this is they have a sidebar

with all your personalization shortcodes

where you can just if you want to put

your affiliate link for example into

your email

you just go right there put it in and

you're good to go

so I'll confirm their save it next

automations I have not dove too far into

automations yet but I I already know you

can go ahead and assign tags immediately

you can set

let's not assign it right here but you

can subscribe them to different lists if

they open the email you can start

different sequences as well as advanced

automations one thing I do want to show

you I'm gonna make a new automation from

this or if they fill in the form let's

go ahead and just show you some of the

things you can do very quickly so you

can give them membership access take

away membership access refund orders

give points so points is one of those

that I really like point at this point

system here some platforms have it most

still don't but what it allows you to do

is instead of adding all these intricate

tags to figure out exactly where a

person is on that purchasing you know

timeline and on their warmness their

warmth I guess you'd say towards

purchasing your product you can add

points so that every time an action

happens on an email by email basis for

example or a link by link basis you can

go ahead and give points so if they

opt-in give them five points it's kind

of like a game at school right so just

go and add those sections in you can

also make this more advanced like it

says and so you could add additional

settings where if they fill out the form

and they're already subscribed to a

specific list

let's put if they're in this list so you

can now say if the lead fills out this

form and they're already subscribed to

this list then do this single or setup

I believe if I'm lucky kind of changes

or thank you the set or up earlier so

let's go ahead and save and we'll

confirm that so now we have green checks

here save and continue where are you

planning to display this form in a car

trip page or video or embed so one thing

that's nice is that even if you have a

wordpress blog you can still funnel

everything into your car try platform by

giving HTML but here why would you do

that let's go ahead and do our cartridge

and we are done

okay this form is available for you in

car trip pages and videos now we get to

go back let's go back to our pages

so we've already linked the opt-in form

to the Thank You page the last link we

need to do is from our opt-in page to

the form I think I said that correctly

going kind of quick here so edit that

page again okay so we're back on the

page so let's wrap this funnel up and

click on the opt-in form placeholder

here and you can see that that same

little pencil and now it'll offer you

how do you want to do it and we just

created the YouTube swipe file apply and

what's great is that there's no

additional formatting I mean the format

came in when we dragged that section in

and you're good to go I also believe we

can just click on that section and how

nice is that so without even seeing the

form we need to edit you can go ahead

and select your form there as well hit

apply and now you can see we have 0 red

red guys so let's go ahead and publish

this page uploading your page to the

Internet there you go so now let's go

ahead and just test this out I'm doing

this live here and this is again this is

day 2 I've never picked up a system this

quickly so here's our page with our

horrible horrible looking background


I'm gonna go ahead and so I'm gonna go

ahead and put in my email address here

and I will blur this out so sorry like

some privacy hit submit and there's a

thank you page and if everything is good

in the world there we go so here is a

simple funnel made in where we at we're

about 20 minutes or so once I kind of

edit out some of that little goofs and

we are doing pretty good here so what

happens next so now we can go back to

our Carter dashboard and let me show you

real quick one thing that I think is

just awesome so now we can go to our

analytics and within our campaigns our

analytics we can look at our list growth

and again so here we go I'm really not

going too fast here but within my first

day of trying this thing out I don't

have a huge list on this business most

of my business is on totally separate

niche so I'm kind of starting from

scratch here

but within you know one day I'm got 13

new subscribers on my list and I'll be

putting out consistent content kind of

working towards that as well you can see

all the metrics and what's great about

this just take a look at one of these

metrics that probably doesn't normally

show up on your email analytics which

one is it I would say this guy I have

never seen revenue show up in my email

marketing tools dashboard right never

seen that and that's because the system

because it's all together and all

integrated you're able to show any

information about your sales and your

checkouts from your products or your

membership sites and that information

kind of propagates or spreads all the

way through the rest of the platform so

you can get a unified idea of how your

business is doing because when you buy

an email marketing platform you're not

buying an email marketing platform

you're buying an accessory to your

overall business your overall marketing

stack we can also I'm not gonna go to

the leads here because I want to you

know protect their privacy but I think

so I clicked on lists here

so that I could protect some of the

privacy that I'll also go into the so

you can see the active and you can make

some changes to it and all that and yeah

so there's a lot to go through here we

kind of covered a lot I don't want to

take up too much more of your time but I

hope the goal of this video was to show

you kind of a different way never have I

been able to send an email and create a

funnel and create pages and link it all

together with only having like one or

two browser windows open that's just not

a thing from where I've been over the

last three years and this platform even

on day two I'm getting the hang of it to

the point where I'm looking forward to

building more funnels so over time I'll

be showing you features all these

different features I'll be trying to

crank out content consistently just to

add value I really want to help you make

an informed decision if you're on

WordPress if you're on clickfunnels if

you're on other platforms I'm not

telling you to leave them but I am

telling you that for one dollar it makes

sense makes good business sense to go

ahead and just you know open the

blinders all up a little bit just for a

week or two and give a new platform a

shot so again I'm Jack I hope this video

Split Testing your Funnels

hey guys Jack here with another video

about Carter I'm gonna be really putting

it through its paces today and testing

how intuitive it is as a brand new

platform and I'm gonna do that because I

will be doing something for the first

time and we're walking through it

together and I have pretty good

confidence I'll be able to figure it out

I be honest with you I've never done

this before

but what we're gonna do in this video is

we're going to upload an opt-in welcome

message a video that I recorded to help

increase my conversions on an opt-in

page I'm running I'm then going to

create the page to put that opt-in into

and finally I'm going to do a split test

where I'll set up a split test between

that new page we're gonna build together

on screen here with an existing kind of

simple opt-in form without any video or

imagery on it and I'll show you the

dashboard in the analytics section as

traffic starts to go into those two

pages to show you how it all worked

together alright so it's kind of a tall

task we have a tonight ahead of us so

let's go ahead and dive into it so I'm

here in my cart

dashboard and the first thing I want to

do is just get a jump start on the video

upload process so I'm going to go into

my videos here on the side and I'm gonna

add a video and upload a single video

and I'll call this trade alert video

often and do I have a category I don't

have categories yet so let's go ahead

and make a category called

options opt-in that is like the most

confusing category in the world but I'd

like to trade options and that is an

opt-in so that's how we're gonna do it

and I will now select options opt-in yes

ma hey it's like one letter difference

in those two phrases alright so it took

me a second to figure out where I save

this guy so I will upload him and he's

gonna work in the foreground I thought

that would go in the background but

luckily very quick upload speeds

optimizing okay so this is good to know

is that you might want to have a

separate tab open and working but let's

go ahead and just test out the speed of

this platform alright so while this file

is optimizing let's go ahead I'm in a

different tab here now and we're gonna

go and create the page because time is

of the essence here so let's go ahead

and click plus page

I want to make a squeeze page and we're

gonna look for something it has a video

and you click the preview and kind of

see what it looks like

ah it's okay let's let's find a little

bit nicer video placeholder a couple

bullet points opt-in form and then some

other stuff and then some testimonials I

like that

so let's do this and I will select them

scroll up and launch the Builder I'm

going to call this trade alert video

opt-in I'm gonna call this options

traders as my category and we're off to

the races

let's check in on my video file okay so

we're gonna bounce it back back and

forth a little bit here cuz I wanna make

sure we don't waste any time so on the

display you can see if it's embedded or

a pop-up I wanted to be embedded and I

want it to be a responsive size so you

could fix the pixel size the response is

definitely where we want to live and on

the appearance splat oh you can put a

splash image on the front not necessary

show controls sure

mute on start select skin color what's

that mean so you can see here I'm

changing the play button here as I like

that that's nice yeah let's go with that

blue guy autoplay on load Shore so show

show an app show social shares no that's

not the action I want them to take and

then show overlay title no thank you

calls to action so this is the cool

thing this what I want to show you guys

as we're going through here so you can

actually put an opt-in directly on the

video itself I don't think I want to do

that for this use case but imagine if

you were to show like a tutorial or

walking through through a Eureka moment

and kind of just before you get to that

big aha moment for your users you can

have them opt-in to get the the rest of

it that's sneaky

I like that Karcher but in this case

we're not going to put any of those on

there because I just want them to have

access to it this is nice so tag a lead

so what

want to do if they visit the page at a

specific time through the video execute

a call-to-action very nice so let's say

if they last 30 seconds into the video

I'm gonna give them a category here

options trader and we're gonna call

let's call them trade followers know

that cuz I thought I mean something else

in my business so we're gonna call this

name interested in trade alerts watched

30 seconds of opt-in video message and

then under category options traders Tang

has expiration date note thank you

create that guy

so now very nice so now it's gonna have

this tag here if they watch 30 seconds

is going to add that tag say that oh I

didn't hit add okay there you go so 30

seconds we're gonna give that options


maybe say interested in trade alerts and

then remember so save is green add is

blue that can be a little bit confusing

we'll hit save and now we have it so if

they wash 30 seconds doesn't add that

tag will be interesting is they are not

necessarily in my system yet so I'm just

I think it's probably done through

cookie tracking but that's pretty

interesting our end actions what does

this mean you can loop the video you

could play another video or you could

redirect to a URL now that one is pretty

interesting I don't have a use for it

yet but imagine if it's a series of

videos you really want to get your

people engaged you can go that route so

we'll publish this and while this guy is

publishing here you go so now I have my

trade alerts video opt-in with a tag

added you can kind of give the you can

hover over that and see what happens

what actions you want to have app happen

there you can also see the CTA so it be

having a call to actions you have linked

into that video so we have our video

ready to go let's go ahead and put this

guy into our new template and what I'm

curious about

yeah so because he had these open at the

same time it doesn't have it here yet so

if I click this guy

no I'll just reload the page no problem

so let's save first get myself out of

the way save my progress okay thank you

refresh the page so it's pretty fun this

is gonna be a great tool I'm really

excited to see how the split testing

works out as well so it loads up and

this will give you a full view of kind

of loading speeds right now that is one

of the small concerns I have is it has

taken a little bit of time to load pages

now I'll go to this video click my

pencil and it should have trade alerts

video opt-in when we just loaded and

it's gonna I guess it's gonna offer you

the same options here if you wanna make

it auto play show controls mute and

apply okay so I'm going to let's see

let's do a couple things here together

so let me change this background here

cuz I just don't care about pac-man and

we'll go to edit I want to change it to

an image and you have some options here

so I could take some pictures of me you

know look at my pretty face or we could

go kind of the stock image route and I'm

gonna look for stocks just to see what

they have here and and that's not bad

right there so I think let me do stock

market I like this guy

it looks nice it looks smart select that

lose myself one more time and I'll apply

it and you can see there okay it's kind

of right behind what I'm looking for

here let's see if in style we can adjust

that so we can add padding what if I

added 150 of padding okay that just adds

more space not really we're looking for

and you could adjust the yeah I still

like it

I'll leave it like that so what I'll do

here is go to my forum click my pencil

one more time and you get to very easily

select your opt-in part form trade

notifications just like that

you have this so what I'll do here now

is I'll pause the video and just change

some of the text on the page and when we

come back we'll be ready to go to the

next step together so I've started

updating some of the copy here and I'm

gonna go ahead and fast forward the

video at this point so you can kind of

see the rest of them I'm doing here cuz

you'll see the user interface and I'll

come back when this page is ready to go

and we can move on to the next step so

okay so at this point we have our video

and let's go ahead and do a quick

preview make sure it's all working

correctly open the preview it should

automatically start and play they have

the ability to fullscreen it see what I

trade when I trade want to trade with me

there's the opt-in a little bit of

social proof here and making sure that

they know other people have done this

before and I'm not a shyster and so

that'll do it so let's go ahead and get

out of my preview we will save this

publish live and also get the link but I

don't need that for what I'm doing here

and there we go

so now just save progress and exit to

the dashboard so here's where the blind

is leading the blind so I've created my

two pages all right let me just show you

real quick here this is the page I'm

gonna be split testing against I'll just

do a quick preview so you can see it's

just a very I mean it's clean it's nice

it gives kind of the same calls to

action here but let's go ahead and

scroll to the top here and go to the

splits tests section so this is one that

I am super excited about thrive themes

which is one of the builders I've been

using in the past they've recently

launched what they call slop thrive

optimized which is a split testing tool

so I'm gonna be doing a side-by-side

comparison at some point on these two

tools but today let's go ahead and just

split test our pages so we can rotate

different pages to monitor which one

pulls in higher conversion ratios let's

see how this works so I'll call this

trade alert opt-in page video first non

always good to make sure you know what

it is you're testing so we get to select

multiple pages up to four pages so

that's good to know

up to four option trade alerts

opt-in and I guess you have to go ahead

and tell it that you you're gonna want

to put 50% split there and

let's go ahead and add oh they're there

there's all my pages can I go down to a

category oh I'm sorry I'm sorry

so I want the destination page options

add the pages you want to test against

each other and their respective rotation

percentage so that's the page I want to

test and I also say you're good there

let's also do what I just call it trade

alert video opt-ins what we just made

and we'll do 50 percent here okay so

hundred percent so it looks good I'm

testing these two pages against each

other hit next

so the type of goal we want though this

is nice so I just want to opt-in and I

get to select the opt-in that they are

going for so the trade notifications you

know it would be it would seem that if

you're doing an opt-in it should be able

to detect the opt-ins that are on the

pages but that's a very small action

that I need to take so there you go and

I'm gonna get hit next very nice so

don't select auto winner and

automatically pick winner so what a

milestone was reached let's see a

thousand visitors and redirect all

traffic to the version of the highest

goals per visitor revenue all very nice

so here I clearly want a goal per

visitor and after a thousand does so

this is where they're not really using

the statistics here you I mean I'm a Six

Sigma Black Belt any of you geeks know

what that means it means I like

statistics and math and really this is

not the best way to select a winner just

by putting a strict count of events you

want to gauge against or judge against

you should really want to look for

confidence levels like for example a 95

percent confidence which could happen

before a thousand visitors and it could

happen wait after a thousand visitors

kind of dynamically based on you know

the probabilities if you're getting a

ton of wins on let's call this page a if

all the winners are over here

you might know with statistical

significance at 500 or 250 visitors but

you know that's okay I think that

especially since it's all built-in and

this is version 1 this is perfectly fine

and also you could I'm assuming I'll be

able to go back in if I want to override

and let's say I'm at 500 visitors and I

check in on the status of it I should be

able to make my own decisions but since

I don't have the most traffic to this

yet I'm not running paid ads to this

opt-in yet here we go so new split tests

add tags I need to tag the users that

access this link let's see what that is

options traders and I don't know

entirely what this tag is gonna be

showing but let's just say trade alert

split test user let's see so I don't

even know how I would call this yet

alright so and this is a nice thing you

can actually color your people here you

must write a description for every tag

opted in during split tests and I'll

create this access this way so this is

interesting let's find out what this

does I'll do a follow-up video oh I see

ok so there's a specific link that goes

to the split tested version and so I

guess what this is saying is that if the

users sign in or go to my opt-in page

using this specific link then it'll know

that it's during the split testing

campaign I'm curious and I'm assuming

what's going to happen here is once the

automatic winner is selected this same

link should still 100% direct to the

winning page so that's the link to my

split test campaign it would definitely

be a pain if I let's say I have 40

YouTube videos all funneled into this

one opt-in page I put this link here and

as soon as the test is over it stops

working or it doesn't might continue

testing even though I already know the

winner I don't think that's what

to happen here and here you go and so

this is the analytics that I'll show you

so split testing and you'll allow

yourself to pick which split test you're

looking at you'll be able to see how

many pages are in the split test how

many days the test has been running how

many visitors have gone through it

I mean goals have been achieved the

revenue you've produced from that split

test and very nice so the percent

certainty let's go ahead and read what

the description is here the ratio tracks

have statistically relevant here you go

see I take it back how statistically

relevant the campaign results are the

larger the data spectrum visitors days

running etc the wider the gap between

the winning version and the rest there

you go you want to see this ratio above

90% develop to the campaign so they're

right on the same page with me which is

fantastic and it shows you what's going

on here this is great you can toggle

between percentage of visitors or number

of visitors etc etc and so there you go

so we're able to set up an a split test

upload our video if we go back to the

video section we'll be able to see some

statistics on the videos watched itself

and this is a pretty cool tool so you

have some actions down here we're gonna

end the split test early or edit the

test there but I'll let this thing run

for a little while and just kind of

track the results so I hope this is a

helpful video I hope you enjoyed kind of

watching me learn as we're going here

and just kind of prove to you how

intuitive and relatively easy to use

this system is even if you're doing

something you've never done before and

setting up a split test is generally not

one of those easy kind of walkthrough on

video for the first time activities this

one there's a study so definitely I give

two thumbs up for how this process has

But Kartra makes up for any short comings by providing extremely helpful sample sales copy on all their pages. Instead of just giving you some icons and Lorem Ipsum text, Kartra provides full blown examples sales pages written by Frank Kearn.

Not only does it show the sales copy that he has used for ads in the past, but he also will add his own commentary of WHY he wrote the thing to make you a better copywriter in the process! Just brilliant.

Another great page builder is Thrive Architect, and there is a lot of great overlap between these two tools. So much, that I did a complete comparison between these two here.

This is one of those key features that you just wouldn't expect a company to be able to pull off.

Including a full-fledged email marketing platform and CRM is no simple task, and Kartra pulls it off very well for an all in one!

through this new business platform which

I am kicking the tires and testing it

out and having a blast with it so far in

the last video which I'll link up here

in the corner we talked about creating

an entire list building funnel and we

did that from start to finish and took

just a couple of minutes on day two of

using this new platform complete with

email integration and some beautiful

landing pages in this video I want to

talk a little more about the email

system and specifically show you a

little bit about the analytics but most

importantly show you some of the amazing

automations you can trigger off of a

broadcast let's go ahead and dive into

it so we're here in our platform and I

have pulled up my my campaign section

here and this is where all your email

work is going to be the only thing you

need to keep in mind is if you're gonna

create a new forum to collect email

addresses that's gonna be in your forms

section so here in our my campaigns

you've got three items up at the top

you've got leads campaigns and analytics

and as you hover over them you can see

how the different subcategories within

those your lists your leads your tags

your campaign sequence automation isn't

done for you and the analytics let's

briefly take a look at the analytics

section in here you can go through and

have a very easy way of taking a look at

different cross sections of your data so

if you want to look at how your lists

are performing you can either look at

all of your lists or if you have maybe

have multiple businesses multiple brands

running off of the same domain or the

same just cartridge section you can

filter it into specific lists here for

example I like to play around in the

options market so I have an options

trading list here and you can show that

just after a couple of days the growth

of that list as well as all your lists

here you can also take a look at what

metrics you want to pay attention to if

you want to clean it up you can do one

versus the other you can add revenue in

or you can compare all the metrics day

by day and I did no pixel tracking I

didn't add Google Analytics

to the page because everything here is

integrated this just kind of happens as

part of it you can see how many leads

you have as well as the activity that

has happened in that time period the

other thing I want to do is show you

very briefly that your revenue can be

tracked I haven't set up products or

memberships into the platform yet but

will be able to track how the revenue

moves over time and lastly if you go

over to the broadcasts section of the

analytics you can go down to your

individual email performance and there

are some cool things I want to show you

on this screen here let me zoom in just

a little bit so one thing is you can

obviously select your time period so if

you want to just look at today or just

move to maybe all-time which will do

here it'll show you're from the

beginning of time as well as more

subsections if you want to look at just

a category of broadcast because like

almost everything else in the platform

you can categorize and tag your

different projects as well as individual

emails if you wanted to send out one

email for example this one that was sent

out yesterday sent to nine people was

opened by nine people and it shows you

down here kind of the additional stats

and what's nice is this is all in one

screen it's very easy to digest and it

kind of breaks down to just the numbers

that really matter when you're looking a

mail marketing the recipients how many

went to spam how many got unsubscribed

open clicked goals revenue and when it

was sent

what's also kind of nifty is you can

just toggle from the raw counts to go

over to the percentages so it's just a

clean way to show the interface

depending on how you want to look at it

up here you have the option of if you

want to look at it by the calendar so

this would show you a trend over time

hopefully it's going up you also can

select by day so if you wanted to

determine after some testing what day of

the week is the right day for you to

send you'll be able to see kind of what

the performance is and down here we can

decide how we want to analyze what best

is so if I click on compare all you can

see that Wednesdays are my best days but

that's simply because I'm just starting

so as we go through I'll definitely be


every day of the week and be able to

come here quickly and not have to do a

bunch of work in Microsoft Excel or

anything to kind of figure out where is

the right place for me to be the system

is going to tell me pretty easily and

finally you can see by time so depending

on if you're any emails in the morning

afternoon or nighttime where you have

the best open right click the rate goals

etc so very cool on the analytics side

definitely having a good time here and I

also kind of mess myself up because I

was only showing the one email

I was sub filtered so you can see kind

of how the different days have performed

as well as some clicks there so what I

want to cover as far as new features

here is let's go ahead and make a

broadcast and I want to show you a

feature that is maybe easy to overlook

but extremely powerful for Smart respect

based internet marketers what I mean by

that is so often people will just blast

the same list all the time no matter

what how that list is feeling though if

they're a warm cold or kind of somewhere

in between every person's getting the

same message and here there's many ways

for you to segment your list but this is

a way that's kind of relatively passive

and and just very insightful and easy to

use in my opinion and it's called adding

points to your list or adding points to

your subscribers so we'll do you YouTube

points walkthrough and we're gonna

create a new let's just notepad no

category in particular when you create

your broadcast I'll walk you through the

steps let's say you want to send an

email I have not yet tested sending SMS

I'll go ahead and blast pass here last

past here and let's just send the email

as this example to everyone in the

database so we don't need to break down

that yet and here you go so it's very

simple you'll see exactly what should be

expected as we go through so the four

blocks shows kind of I'm in the process

of bringing old cold people back into my

list and so obviously I'm going to start

seeing some people that have blocked the


and here we go so this is pretty cool I

will definitely be doing a future video

about a/b testing versus single emails

but that's not the topic for tonight

so enter topic here oh that's your

subject line of the email and then you

can go for it like I showed you in the

previous video you can very easily add

what you want so when you put in first

name second very formal first name so

let's go ahead and just say hello and if

we were to send a test email that's

what's gonna show up and it will

actually show tests wherever you have

those short codes embedded to make sure

that it is working for you all right so

let's go ahead and dive in and show you

the new automation feature so here you

have some options so this is just at the

email level if the lead opens email does

not click some link does not click on

the link so let's say if the lead opens

an email what we want to do is start to

tell our system that this person is warm

that they're engaged they're doing

something with us and they're listening

to our message so if they do that a very

easy way to track this is simply to

start giving them points and points is

just an attribute it's just something

that sits linked to that subscriber and

allows you to see as kind of the the

master planner who is your most likely

to buy who are the ones that are most

likely to be unsubscribed or be

disengaged so what we're gonna do here

is we're gonna give positive points to

people who are engaging and acting on

our emails we're gonna take away points

from people who are not engaging after a

good period of time so let's go ahead

and do that here so I'm going to go

ahead and say add three points to

anybody who opens the email that means

they're they care yeah they're there

with me and there you go so I'll hit

save and now you can see that this

broadcast has some logic attached to it

now let's go ahead and click new

automation again and round out that part

where the lead does not open the email

and now here you have to give it a

second value I mean in what time period

are you looking at because they might

open it two years from now but that

doesn't help you so I'll say you know

between 72 hours and 90

six hours a couple days is pretty good

and then then you can say subtract

points from the leads and you can say

you know I would not recommend you take

off the same number of points you gave

for them to open it maybe you take out

one point if they don't open an email

and you give them more points if they do

open but you can kind of play with it

and see what works best for you so we'll

save that guy as well so now very

quickly you set up away and imagine this

for any email you send you can start to

see who's really responding and not have

to go through and look at the actual log

of what each person has done you don't

need to create an intricate tag system

to see if they're cold medium hot and

take you know take tags off and put tags

on you can be very easy here and just do

it through points let me show you let's

do one more just so you can see all the

other options here so if they click on a

link I don't have any legs on here let's

go ahead and add a quick link here so

check it out so I just send this guy to

Google and there you go there's my link

so now if I create an automation and say

the lead clicks on a link and it will

automatically pull all the individual

links on your page as well as saying if

they click on any link they click on

this then you have even more options

here so you can subscribe them to a list

you can kind of read through this here

but you got a lot of different options

what I really like is where you can

actually grant access to a membership

straight from an email so if let's say

you create an opt-in that is linked to

accessing to giving access to a free

membership site that's great for the

people that are opting in at that point

but what about your existing list do you

send them to another opt-in page and

like give them another piece of

resistance from following through in

getting access to your membership well

you don't have to here you could create

a link in your email that takes them to

the home page of your

membership site and then add the

automation in here where if they click

You can:

  • View all their tags and information
  • View an entire history of their customer journey: What pages they viewed, which forms did they opt in on, what help desk tickets did they submit, which videos they watched and how much, which products did they buy or refund… you get the picture
  • Add or remove any information about them
  • Grant them access to products or provide refunds

There is a ton you can do in this area, but the key takeaway is that it is directly tied into to the entire platform, so it gives you super powers when it comes to selling.

Imagine you get an email from a subscriber and they want you to drop the price for them.

Before you just say no and move on, you can click into their lead history and see their entire journey.

Kartra Email Con's

  • The visual automation builder isn't as refined as Drip's or Active Campaigns. A few more clicks are required to dive into each step.
  • There is currently no way to remove a small "Kartra" logo from the bottom of your emails. This is a feature that is common for "free" versions of email software but I have never seen it forced on a paid tier.
  • Their pricing model limits the number of emails you can send at each level, and charges a little more for any overages. On the Silver plan (which I recommend) you can send 125,000 emails per month. Not ideal if you like to email your list daily.

Kartra does a great job with their email marketing. I honestly feel that it competes with the big boys when you consider all the data sharing that Kartra can do between their emails and your funnel pages.

Before you can start emailing your leads… you need to generate leads!

And that's where Kartra's opt in forms come in, and they also have a few tricks up their sleeves.

Let me review the design options and the functionality and features of the opt in forms separately:

Kartra opt in form design

With Kartra you can design several types of opt in forms:

  • In line forms
  • “Click Pop” forms linked to buttons
  • Slide-in forms
  • Pop ups on exit intent
  • Banners at the top/bottom of pages
  • Naked HTML forms without design (to integrate with other tools if you want)

Kartra continues to make things easier for newbie marketers by providing templates for each of their forms.

And once you select your templates and make your tweaks, you're ready to start building your list!

Kartra Opt In Features

Kartra has some nice tricks up its sleeve. Check it out:

I'm not sure if you realize how important this gif is. Let me explain.

Smart opt In Forms

As a managed solution, Kartra has clients everywhere, in every vertical.

Because of this, they are able to semi-share cookie data for their opt in forms.

What this means is that if a reader opts in to a DIFFERENT Kartra user's form, and later on comes across yours…

His information will be pre-loaded in, so all he has to do is click the “sign up” button!

This is important, because it removes one more piece of friction in the sign up process, which should result in greater conversions!

Embedding forms

Having these forms show up all over your Kartra funnel pages is great, but what if you already have a WordPress blog?

No worries!

When you build out a form in Kartra, it will give you a small one line piece of code that you can place on your blog or anywhere else online, and that form will display just as it should.

What's even better is that if you accidentally made a typo or what to change the design, you never have to adjust the snippet of code on your site! Changes are kept in sync between your blog and Kartra at all times. Very convenient.

  • Good selection of opt in designs
  • Simple drag-and-drop editing
  • Can add automations directly into the opt in sign up forms
  • Syncs readers names and emails across any Kartra user's form so they don't even have to enter it in!
  • Can embed forms into your blog or other websites
  • Can quickly plug in forms to your existing landing pages without having to do any design work on the form itself.

Kartra Email Opt In Con's

  • Cannot easily split test opt in form designs like you can with Thrive LeadsThrive Leads
  • Exit intent currently only works for Kartra pages. I was not able to get it to work putting an exit pop up on my wordpress site.

Going back to the 80/20 principle, Kartra's opt in forms satisfy everything you would need to create high-converting landing pages. It doesn't have all the options of some of the other players, but what it does, it does well.

Because of this limit, I recommend you only host your critical videos (opt in videos, sales page videos, one time offers, etc) on Kartra, and use Vimeo for any membership videos. You should compress your videos before uploading.

Kartra's video hosting platform offers some interesting features like their call to action's in the middle of videos, but at the end of the day, I was not terribly impressed by this tool.

Having to compress my videos before uploading was an extra step and a hassle. I don't care for the limitations on bandwidth, so I use the hosting sparingly.

But for optimizing your funnel and conversions, their hosting platform does offer some great features.

  • Kartra misses some of the engagement features that other LMS's offer. For example, you can't show a student what % through the course they have completed. (It does, however show you if a lesson has been viewed before or not with a visual eye icon)
  • Kartra offers several “themes” for their membership sites, but they all follow a very similar structure. You are limited in how you customize the layout of your membership sites.

Kartra's membership sites is another very well implemented tool, and is perfect for entrepeneurs who want to:

  • Sell courses
  • Publish restricted content just for members
  • Offer group coaching behind a pay wall

Like other parts of Kartra, the membership area strips away some of the other features that best-in-class solutions have.

But when you think about what you actually NEED to run a successful membership site, you'll see that Kartra has what you need.

You may ask yourself – why do I need integrations if Kartra is an all in one platform?

There are a number of reasons you may want to add additional integration functionality with Kartra:

  • Add more email bandwidth to your account
  • Create advanced connections with your existing WordPress blog
  • Connect Kartra to your existing online course platform (if you aren't going to consolidate)
  • Send SMS messages (heck yea!)
  • And many many more reasons

Of course, everyone's situation is different, but there are a few crucial integrations to consider.

First, you will need to set up your payment gateways so you can accept money (the whole point of this thing, right?). I prefer PayPal and Stripe as that covers the majority of the US customer base, and also enables the beautiful one-click upsell functionality that Kartra is famous for.

Next – you'll probably find some tool that you want to talk to Kartra, and that's where Zapier comes in. With simple If this then that logic, you can set up pretty amazing automations that make your life easier using Kartra.

Finally, if you like to email your list every day, you will quickly start to rack up some overage fees if you stick to the stock email limits with your account.

However, the simple work around is to integrate with a transactional email system like Sendgrid. The way these work is basically your insurance against fees by routing your email newsletters using their servers, not Kartra's.

For about $10 per month, you can get an additional 40,000 emails to blast to your leads – which is a fantastic rate for those who like to keep in touch with their contacts.

So let's summarize:

  • Even though Kartra has everything most online businesses will need - they also offer a ton of 3rd party integrations to ensure you always have a direct connection to your tools.
  • Connecting to email services like Postmark and Sendgrid can save you money if you like to send a high volume of emails every month.
  • Integration with Zapier means that pretty much anything under the sun can be accomplished (with enough creativity)
  • You have plenty of options to collect payments effectively and cheaply

Kartra Integrations Cons

  • I would like to see a direct WordPress plugin for Gutenberg to have better control over how your Kartra email opt in forms display on your blog posts (like Thrive Leads can do)

After all those features, you've got to be wondering about price.

Don't worry, Kartra is incredibly affordable considering the incredible number of features it allows you to do in one package:

Let's take a quick look at the Silver annual plan, and breakdown why $139 per month is an incredible price.

for this quick comparison, let's put together a set of tools that will provide comparable functionality as Kartra does.

  • Page Builder – Lead Pages ($48 per month)
  • Email Marketing – Drip ($246 per month for 12,500 contacts)
  • Shopping Cart – Samcart ($99 per month)
  • Membership Platform – Teachable ($79 per month)
  • Lead Capture Forms – Lead Pages (already added in)
  • Helpdesk – Intercom ($87 per month)

Total cost of this stack? An incredible $559 per month. That's just over 4 times the cost of the silver Kartra plan…

$400 per month you could be investing into Facebook ads or to pay your support team – instead of spreading out into a ton of tools which become difficult to manage and integrate.

But wait a second… is there a catch?

I will be honest, Kartra is a great platform, but the tools above are specialists. That means that they are designed for one purpose, and do it very well.

So don't expect Kartra's help desk feature to be better than Intercom's offering, or for Kartra's email marketing service to be better in every way than Drip's (although in some cases, I do think Kartra's is more advanced!).

What you are getting is an incredible value that provides incredible peace of mind and efficiency because of it's integrated nature.

By overlooking some of the fancy features of the individual specialists, you will in turn gain a powerful platform that can take your business to new heights (without the tech stress!)

Who is Kartra For?

This is the million dollar question. Is Kartra for you?

I think Kartra is an excellent option for:

  • Entrepeneurs that already have a product idea and an existing audience
  • People who get frustrated with the tech of tying together a ton of different systems
  • People who don't necessarily want to blog every day to create traffic to their funnels
  • Social-media heavy influencers (Youtube, instragram, pinterest) who can send people directly from social into their funnels
  • Agencies who want to help local businesses expand their product selection into digital products. Kartra gives them a single service that can handle all the necessary functions (probably better than they are today).
  • Those who want to focus on the actual marketing customer service, and not getting stuck in the weeds with the tech.
  • Those who want to sell their own funnels for additional revenue (this will be huge!)

Who should avoid Kartra?

I am nervous to tell anyone to completely ignore Kartra.

After all, $1 for a full 14 day trial is entirely risk free, and you may find that it pushes all the buttons for you in an easy package.

However, here are some people that I could see struggle with Kartra:

  • People who like to keep 100,000+ people on their email lists and email them regularly. Kartra is better suited for folks who keep their list clean. If your leads don't convert after a certain point, it's better to move them to a cheaper email provider (like Mailerlite), or unsubscribe them altogether.
  • People who like to email daily. Unlike other providers, Kartra puts a cap on how many emails you can send. You can always send more, but the additional emails will cost you.
  • People who HAVE to have physical products to sell. This is clearly made for digital products only.

Kartra – An All In One Worth Watching
