Income Report – February 2015.

February is past us, and boy what an interesting month it has been. Although it had 3 days less than January, Income Mesh blog has still managed to brought more visits and more sales too. But let’s start from the beginning and see what has happened in February, then we’ll go into numbers and statistics.


As some of you have probably noticed, a few visual changes happened on Income Mesh in February.

First, the thing I am most proud of, I have installed Feature Box – a huge opt-in box on my home page where I can present my ebook in a beautiful way and ask my readers to subscribe in order to get it. In order for my Feature Box to look even better I have decided to switch places of my logo and the menu, so since recently my logo is at the top now, and my main menu is below the logo.

Few days ago I have also put a new banner in my sidebar, linking to InstaBuilder 2.0 – a new WordPress marketing plugin which helps you create sales pages, squeeze pages, opt-in forms etc. I haven’t tried it yet but I plan to do so because it seems really amazing.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I started using Optin Monster too, which you probably noticed already. I am really satisfied with it so far, it’s simple and effective. I’ll do a bit more testing with it and then you can expect a huge review from me.


This one was a huge deal for me, I wrote and published “List Building Unleashed” – a short but sweet ebook about most popular list building techniques. I made a cover for it too and put it in my sidebar widget, feature box, below my blog posts and everywhere. I use it as a lead magnet (gift) for my subscribers. In February I published 3 articles – Income report for January 2015., Feature Box review and Thrive Leads (short) review. Again, not as much as I planned to, but still February ended up as my best month, both traffic and income wise.

My initial plan (last month) was to publish a blog post with new WordPress themes, both free and premium. But, I came to conclusion that it takes too much time (at the moment) with very little return of investment. So I decided to drop it for now, although it has potential.


Traffic in February increased comparing to January, although it had 3 days less. Let’s look at the images below.

Comparing to previous month (picture below), I have increases in all areas which is great. Not a big increase though, still I am happy that this blog is going in the right direction. Up until February 24th my stats were pretty much the same as the last month, but in the last 4 days there has been a constant increase. Not sure why yet, but I’ll try to find out.

If you take a look at channel report, you will see that 60% of my traffic comes from Google. That’s also a small increase (like 6%) from the last month. I don’t mind free Google traffic, but I would like to increase referral traffic to at least 25%-30% because with Google you never know these days. One algorithm change and you can lose half (or more) of your traffic in a day.

With the pages drill down the situation is pretty much the same. Home page and my list building post are getting 50% of attention, but there are few newcomers here, we’ll see how will they hold on in March.

Social traffic in February has been weak comparing to January, approx. 50% lower. No surprise here, I really don’t put that much effort (almost nothing) to promotion on social networks (yet). But at least I know which ones do have the most potential.

And here comes the sweetest part of this report, income!

I won’t pretend I wasn't surprised with all the sales I made in February. Just to compare, in January I made around $35. So when the sales started hitting me this month I was blown away. Really amazing feeling and so it was so unexpected. Or was it? Keep reading…

Here are statistics regarding the sales I made in February 2015.

Envato – $5.10
Feature Box – $38.80 (check my review here + get 20% discount)
Optin Monster – $39.80
Popup Ally – $48.50
Thrive Leads – $291.60 (see my Thrive Leads review here + my Thrive Content Builder review here)

= $423.80

It should have been a bit higher than that, almost hitting $500 mark, but I had two refunds which costed me $69.74.


Hosting – Traffic Planet Hosting – $31.24

In total, after subtracting expenses, I made $392.56 last month. Not bad ha? 🙂

Let’s see how did I make those sales and why do I fear I won’t be making them in March.

As you can see, most of the money I earned was through Thrive Leads. I made two blog posts about it and they stand on the first page of Google. Hence all that traffic to those pages and also those sales.

Not to be forgotten, I know that at least few of my subscribers were interested in Thrive Leads and I sent an email to my list too, which brought at least 1-2 sales.

The rest of it, Envato – my best WordPress themes post, and other sales came from my list building article.

Since Thrive Leads launched in February there was a lot of hype around it, that’s why I made so much with it. Meaning, Thrive Leads probably won’t bring me that much money in March. Then again, I may be wrong (and hopefully I will be).


Content wise, I plan to write Thrive Leads review and Optin Monster review in March. Possibly I'll also make a toolbox page where I will share with you all the tools I use on this blog. I’ll try to invest some time in social media and also try to get some more referral traffic.

I’m really tight with my free time and that’s keeping me away from like 70% of the things I have in mind to do for this blog. But that’s about to change soon to, more about that in my next income report.

    Epic feature box, it suits your site well! Also, I’m mirin’ your search traffic as that’s something I really struggle with. Interestingly enough, social traffic is where I excel.

    Congrats on your success with Thrive Leads! It does seem like a great product for sure.

      Haha, funny thing also, I just sent email to my subscribers and one minute later I got an income report from another guy I am following. It seems we are all publishing income reports these days 😀

      Thanks man, I see that you are making progress too, just keep going.

      Yeah, Google likes me so far, but I really need to work harder on my social media channels. We’ll see, maybe March is going to be more “social” for me 🙂

    Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

    One thing I’d be interested in is the # of email optins you’re getting / which traffic channels are converting to optins. Have you set up Google Analytics conversion tracking?

    I think conversions is much more of an actionable metric than traffic (a bit of a vanity metric).

      Yes, I have set Google Analytics goal tracking (although just recently) and will include that data starting from my next income report. And I also agree that conversions (whether sales or just leads) are the most valuable data.
