What is Fiverr?
Fiverr is a huge online marketplace where you can buy creative and professional services for just $5.
You can also sell your services and make money on Fiverr, but I?ll cover that in another article.
Offers on Fiverr are called gigs, Fiverr gigs.
Each gig costs a minimum of $5, but can end up being more expensive if you buy extra gigs.
Extra gigs are services related to the main gig your are interested in. So for example if you need a logo you?ll pay $5, but if you need that logo within 24h, you?ll probably need to pay additional $5 or more.
You?ll understand the whole process in a few minutes of browsing Fiverr, it?s all really simple.
So on Fiverr, you can buy a whole range of services (covered in more details below) like logo design, Photoshop image editing, video animations, business plans and also a lot of fun gigs where someone will write your name in sand on the beach, or dance for you.
I know, sounds crazy, but people will do crazy stuff for money.

Now I want to show you how to buy your first Fiverr gig.
How to buy your first Fiverr gig
Like I said, for all of you first time Fiverr users, I am giving you a 20% discount code for your first gig (discount code is: FLY20).

1. Create a Fiverr account (it?s free to create)
*Fiverr might show you a similar landing page where you can join right away by inputting your email address, that’s ok too, even faster than I described below actually.
To do that you just need to click on the Join link in the upper right corner. After you do that you?ll get a small popup window showing you 3 options which you can use to create account:
- Create Fiverr account with your email address
- Create Fiverr account with your Facebook account
- Create Fiverr account with your Google account
All options are perfectly safe and easy to use.
To connect your Fiverr account with your Facebook or Google account, you?ll just need to give permission to Fiverr to do so, and click Okay/Allow when the Facebook/Google popup opens.
If you decide to use email to create your Fiverr account, the process is similar as with any other website where you need to register, you?ll just need to fill in some info manually.
After all your info is in its place just make sure that you don?t forget to confirm your account by clicking in the link you got in your email inbox from Fiverr.
2. Browse Fiverr gigs and find the one you want to buy
If you need help with Fiverr gigs, scroll a bit down where I am giving you a wide selection of gigs perfect for your online business.
If not, just use Fiverr’s search box or categories, I’m sure you’ll find something good.
When choosing the perfect Fiverr gig make sure to check some things before you decide to click on buy button:
- Check the profile of this Fiverr gig owner – See if there is some consistency, check reviews of his other gigs, check his ratings, response rate and anything that might seem suspicious
- Check gig reviews – Although this reviews can be fake and misleading, if a user has a lot of them there is probably some truth in them
- Check previous work – If not listed, don’t hesitate to contact the worker and ask for few examples of his work
- Bargain – Even if the user has listed an extra gig for $20, contact him/her and offer a lower amount for the extra gig you need, they just might accept it.
And finally if you like what you see and have a good feeling about it, it’s time to actually buy your first Fiverr gig.
*Warning: Even if you think you are buying the best gig in the world with thousands of great reviews, you must know that from time you will not be satisfied with the result. However, if the provider is decent he/she will make changes and improve the results until you are satisfied.
3. Buy Fiverr gig and pay with PayPal / Credit card / Bitcoin
As shown in the video above, buying a gig on Fiverr is simple.
You just select the gig you like and add extra gigs to it if you want to. After that all you need to do is click on the Order Now green button (upper right).
You can pay with PayPal, credit card or even with Bitcoins.
Just before you confirm and pay for the gig, you’ll see an option to use a coupon code. You can use FLY20 for a 20% discount of your first gig. It’s valid only for the first users though, and only for the first gig.
Now you just pay and after the payment is completed don’t close the window. You’ll be redirected back to Fiverr and give instructions to your provider.
4. Describing what you need to Fiverr worker
This is maybe the most important part on which you should concentrate if you want to get get results.
So here, after you complete the payment for the gig, you need to explain to the provider what do you need from him/her.
For example, if you bought a logo design gig, you should tell the provider which colors to use in the logo, give him images or links to images to some similar logos or the ones you like, tell him what should be written in the logo, give him the url of your website, show him your current logo, explain if you want to have this logo in a specific geometric shape, or maybe to highlight a certain letter, or to use your country flag in it.
The point here is, the more info you give to your provider the faster and better he will deliver your work.
Which Fiverr gigs should you avoid
Whenever you buy something there’s a possibility that the product or a service won’t be as good as you hoped. The same goes with Fiverr.
Although there are a lot awesome and worthy Fiverr gigs, there’s also a lot of spammers, and people who just want to take your money.
Here are some examples of good and bad Fiverr gigs.
Good Fiverr gigs:
- Graphic design gigs – Logos, ebook covers, banners, business cards and similar
- Video related gigs – Video editing, whiteboard videos, video intros, promo videos, video testimonials and similar
- Data entry gigs
- Short writing/editing gigs – Slogans, articles up to 500 words, CV editing, translations, proofreading and similar
- Small web development gigs – Small WordPress fixes, HTML or CSS fixes, installing Google Analytics, Adsense, or similar scripts
- Social media marketing – Posting links on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook (ask to see those profiles first)
Bad Fiverr gigs:
- Bookmarking and links for SEO (could get your website a penalty from Google)
- Article and PR submission (most likely spammed with automation software)
- Business plans and tips, financial advice (are you sure that the person providing info is experienced and trained to give valid information?)
- Any kind of gig where you can’t see some previous work or where the provider is hiding/withholding info or not answering on your questions
The best advice I can give you, if you are not sure about the gig, is to contact the gig provider and ask questions which gave you the concern in the first place. After that just use your common sense and your gut feeling.
